Improving Lives Since 1973

Better ATX is a 100% volunteer-led, member-based nonprofit, deeply rooted in the belief that local action creates lasting change. The founding principle, since 1973, has been to support those in need through our philanthropic programs.

Our primary funding source, Better ATX THRIFT HOUSE, is more than just a store—it’s a vibrant hub where loyal shoppers become friends, high-quality, gently used goods find new homes, and every purchase helps fund our mission.

Moving forward as Better ATX, we carry our legacy into the future with Change in Motion—a commitment to bettering lives and strengthening our community through the hard work of our dedicated volunteers.

Who We Serve

Better ATX supports children, teens, and adults across the greater Austin area through a range of targeted programs. Giving Back with Every Purchase

Better ATX THRIFT HOUSE, located at 4901 Burnet Road, is the third and current location of our high quality and affordable resale store.  Inside, you’ll find gently used items—from clothing and furniture to books, art, and collectibles– all generously donated by our community. And when we have more than we can sell, we partner with other nonprofits to share those goods, helping neighbors in need and keeping usable items out of the landfill.

Every purchase, every donation, and every visit moves our mission forward.
